This Torah portion has many connections to to Messiah. So much so that many New Testament passages allude to events that occur in this one portion. From the Bitter waters, to the daily bread, the LORD our Banner and more.
It highlights an important principle of Jewish interpretation: that the things that happen to the Patriarchs is reflected in the lives of their descendants, and particularly, The Descendant, the Messiah.
