Torah #28 Leviticus 16-20 Why We Need Cleansing? New Clothes & Mikveh
May 10, 2025 • Pastor Kelly Reed
Leviticus continues to have connections to the New Testament that a non-Jewish audience would probably miss, but one steeped in the practice and faith of the first century would recognize. This portion and previous ones repeatedly ask those needing cleansing from things like leprosy, or even doing God's will like the High Priest in preparation for Yom Kippur, to wash & change their clothes as well as bathe. This bathing corresponds to a Mikveh or baptism.
Both Baptism and the Need for New Clothes, the putting off and putting on of the Garments of Salvation are recurring themes that Yeshua and the Apostles drew from as Jewish men familiar with the Torah.
